Linehan spent five seasons as the Lions’ offensive coordinator under Jim Schwartz following his tenure as head coach of the Rams. He helped develop Matthew Stafford after the quarterback was drafted by the team in 2009 and directed an offense that ranked among the top five in the NFL in yards per game in his final three seasons.

Linehan has not served as an on-field coach since 2020 at LSU when he was the passing game coordinator. He was a coaching analyst at Missouri from 2021-23. He last coached in the

Over a 37-year coaching career, Linehan has been a head coach with the St. Louis Rams. He's also been an offensive coordinator for the Cowboys, Vikings, Dolphins, and Lions in the NFL and Idaho, Washington, and Louisville at the collegiate level.
