Viral social media posts are claiming the "no tax on tips" bill passed in Congress on Tuesday. It did not—but the resolution cleared the way for it.

Japan's Lower House has passed a budget bill for next fiscal year starting in April. Earlier on Tuesday, the chamber's budget committee approved the draft budget. The committee also passed a revision to it based on an agreement among the main ruling Liberal Democratic Party, its coalition partner Komeito, and the opposition Japan Innovation Party.

During his campaign, President Trump proposed no tax on overtime and tips — mostly affecting people who work in the service or hospitality industry.
