Los Angeles Lakers backup center Jaxson Hayes sprained his left ankle during practice, and he won't play when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. The Lakers said the injury occurred Tuesday.

Jaxson Hayes has been the only other true center on their roster other than Anthony Davis, and although he has played well at times, he has been too lanky to consistently box out or get stops against bulkier centers.

Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes suffered a left ankle injury during the team's practice on Tuesday. Upon further examination and imaging, he has been diagnosed with a left ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in approximately one to two weeks, the team said on Wednesday afternoon.
