When the 2024-25 college basketball season started, Big 12 coaches were touting the conference as the deepest in the country.

Led by Chase Forte's 25 points, the South Dakota Coyotes defeated the Denver Pioneers 86-79. The Coyotes improved to 14-10 with the win and the Pioneers fell to 8-17.
