Indian authorities are investigating the work environment at a global accounting firm after the death of a 26-year-old employee whose mother said she was overworked.

The matter came into light after mother of deceased employee, Anita Augustine wrote to EY India Chairman, Rajiv Memani about her daughter’s death due to ‘work stress’.

Ernst & Young (EY) has expressed deep sorrow following allegations that 26-year-old Anna Sebastian, who passed away in July 2024, died due to extreme work pressure. The consulting firm issued a statement offering condolences to the family and pledged to improve the work environment for its employees.
