US President-elect Donald Trump has stirred quite a controversy with his claims about wanting to acquire Greenland, the world’s largest island and a largely autonomous territory under Denmark. His refusal to rule out military might in this pursuit has stoked worry even though the prospect is believed to be improbable.

The Danish foreign minister expressed openness to working more closely with the U.S. to ensure its interests in the region are addressed after President-elect Donald Trump said he wants to buy the Danish territory of Greenland—but the foreign minister continued to cast doubt on Trump’s idea to acquire the island,

Donald Trump wants the United States to buy Greenland for its strategically vital resources, to bolster US security and give China a bloody nose. But he also wants to strike his largest ever real estate deal because Greenland is “massive”, he “loves maps” and because he is very, very stubborn.
