Unrivaled Basketball, launched by a Minnesota star, is a real game-changer — and it tipped off Friday night in Florida.

New York Liberty stars were unable to withstand a fourth quarter comeback in the debut of the new 3-on-3 league.

The first game in Unrivaled history featured Skylar Diggins-Smith making the decisive shot -- even though her team was already in the lead.

MIAMI — Napheesa Collier allowed herself a few moments during the player introductions Friday night before Unrivaled’s first game to take it all in.

The league will officially begin play on Friday, Jan. 18. The first game will be Collier's Lunar Owls BC against Stewart's Mist BC. It will start at 6 p.m. CT, followed by a second game at 7 p.m. CT. The Finals are scheduled to take place on Monday, March 17. The entire league season will be broadcast on TNT. TruTV and Max.

Along with being one of the WNBA's top stars, Napheesa Collier has worked diligently behind the scenes to build her own venture.

In the second game, Bradley Central High School graduate Rhyne Howard, who plays for the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, scored 33 points to lead Vinyl to a 79-73 win over Rose. Vinyl was up 67-58 heading into the final quarter and held on for the win. Reese had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Rose.

As Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier begin the first season of Unrivaled, investors Geno Auriemma and Paige Bueckers will be watching proudly back at UConn.
