The lawsuit alleges that UFCW Local 7 tried to force the grocer into multi-union bargaining with other labor groups with which the grocer does not have ties.

“It is particularly galling that King Soopers is making such false allegations given the Company’s own track record of being caught lying about illegal coordination agreements with its competitor Safeway/Albertsons during the 2022 ULP strike by UFCW Local 7 workers,” said Kim Cordova, President of UFCW Local 7, in a statement.

With a strike underway in several Front Range communities, King Soopers has sued the labor union that represents thousands of its employee.

Some shoppers are choosing not to cross the picket lines at the King Soopers stores where union workers are on strike.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado King Soopers filed a federal lawsuit Friday against UFCW Local 7 for the recent grocery store worker strike.

King Soopers officials claim a labor union that represents its grocery workers is using "unchecked power to create uncertainty."

Colorado has a plethora of locally owned grocery stores. Everything from mom-and-pop shops to international markets, to a local chain with 17 locations across the state.

The start of a two-week-long strike by thousands of Colorado King Soopers workers meant people on the picket lines and shoppers either choosing to cross those lines or avoiding King Soopers in favor of other grocery stores.
