In a post on X, Ford announced that he had sent letters to political leaders in Michigan, New York, and Minnesota, informing them that Ontario could impose a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to these states if the tariffs continue or if additional tariffs are introduced by the Trump administration.

The premier of Ontario, Canada’s most populous province, said that he would issue a 25% export tax on electricity sold to the U.S. and may later cut it off completely if U.S. tariffs persist.
