Authorities in South Carolina are searching for the driver responsible for fatally hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene.

Matthew Thimons appeared in court on Thursday to request bond after being denied in July and November 2024. In July, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said two cars crashed and both drivers had to be airlifted to the hospital where 36-year-old Christopher Price died.

A woman died following a hit and run on Friday, Feb. 28, on HWY 15 South and Lewis Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).

David Jones with SCHP says a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria going north hit the side of a 2022 Kia four-door as the Kia tried crossing Highway 17.

The driver, identified by the Horry County Coroner’s Office as 31-year-old Darius Holmes, was the only person in the car. Holmes died from his injuries. SCHP is investigating the crash.

Investigators are determining if 14-year-old Faith Williams died in a dirt bike crash or was hit by another vehicle after finding a car part at the scene.

The driver was headed south on S.C. 31 around 2 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle veered left, struck a concrete barrier, ended up in the median, struck an embankment and then overturned, said Sgt. Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The crash occurred near S.C. 707.
