A mom and daughter were blown away after landing a huge lottery prize, Maryland officials said. The first Powerball drawing of 2025 left them with a third-tier prize of $150,000, according to a Jan. 17 news release by the Maryland Lottery.
Two Connecticut Lottery tickets won big prizes in recent Powerball drawings. A Windsor Locks resident claimed $100,000 in winnings, and another won $150,000.
The winner of a $1 million Powerball ticket in Reynoldsburg let the machine pick, and it matched 5-of-5 white balls for the prize.
More than 560,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said. The Powerball jackpot has not been hit since Dec. 7, when a New York player won the $256 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
The Mega Millions and Classic Lotto jackpots are also on the rise, with estimated prizes of $113 million and $2.1 million, respectively.
The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s lottery drawing has increased to an estimated $303 million with a cash option of $132.8 million. The winning numbers were: 8, 41, 52, 53 and 58. The Powerball drawn was 7 with a Power Play of 3x.
