In support of President Trump's executive orders, the Coast Guard will send additional resources to maritime borders, the military branch said Tuesday.

"Under my statutory authority as the Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security I have relieved Admiral Linda L. Fagan of her duties as Commandant of the United States Coast Guard," said Acting DHS Secretary Benjamine Huffman.

Data from the Coast Guard estimates that more than 14,000 rescues were made and 6,000 lives were saved throughout Fiscal Year 2024. Air Station Cape Cod alone executes upwards of 200 rescues annually.

Adm. Kevin Lunday, the vice commandant, is expected to fill the vacancy in an acting capacity until the Senate confirms a replacement.
