Among them: the Argentinean plot to assassinate Herbert Hoover, the West Branch native and 31st president of the United States, who was the target of an attempted assassination nearly a century ago.

During the time in the early 1920s when legislation was being crafted to authorize a dam on the Colorado River, Herbert Hoover served as Secretary of Commerce for President Warren Harding.

It’s taken nearly two decades, but the Herbert Hoover Dike rehabilitation project is complete. The rehabilitation project started four presidents ago, in 2005.
