The Boston Celtics, one of the most storied franchises in NBA history, are set to command a record-breaking sale price that could exceed $6 billion, according to the Boston Globe.

The Celtics ownership sale appears to be ramping up as the calendar year turns to 2025. Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe reports that the team sent out a letter from the Grousbeck family to shareholders on Tuesday that indicated the team will receive their first round of bids from potential buyers of the franchise on January 23.

When the first round of bids are submitted by Jan. 23, the Celtics expect to have received at least four and up to five from investment groups vying to become the next owner of the NBA franchise,
