Fueled by powerful winds and dry conditions, a series of ferocious wildfires erupted the second week of January and roared across the Los Angeles area.

Firefighters continue to battle multiple fires that broke out this month, destroying more than 16,000 structures and leaving at least 28 dead.

The Palisades and Eaton wildfires also continue burning in the Los Angeles area, leaving parts of Southern California with devastating fire damage.

Twenty-seven people have died across the Los Angeles area. Officials have said the true death toll isn’t known as the fires continue to burn.

Evacuation orders are in effect near San Diego as at least three fires broke out in northern San Diego County overnight, including the Lilac and Pala fires, which grew to 50 and 30 acres, respectively,
