Airport Fire initially started 1:21 p.m. Sep. 9 in Orange, Riverside County. After being active for 10 days, it has burned 23,519 acres. A crew of 2,007 firefighters has been working on site and, by Thursday evening, they managed to contain 42% of the fire. The wildfire originated from equipment usage.

Progress of the Airport Fire continues to slow Saturday morning as crews reach 9% containment of the 23,494-acre blaze.

The Airport Fire, which began Sept. 9, has burned more than 23,500 acres in the Santa Ana Mountains between Orange and Riverside counties. It began when Orange County Public Works employees moved boulders with heavy machinery during a heat wave in Trabuco Canyon, fire authorities said.
