MONACO (AP) — Barcelona’s perfect start to the season ended with a 2-1 loss at Monaco in the revamped Champions League on Thursday, a defeat which happened after defender Eric Garcia was sent off after 11 minutes.

Barcelona had a dreadful start at the Stade Louis II stadium when Garcia was shown a straight red card 11 minutes in for a foul on Monaco's Takumi Minamino, who was clear in front of goal after a misplaced pass from goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick will make one major change to the line up when his unbeaten team makes its 2024/2025 Champions League debut away at AS Monaco.
