In Craig Berube’s first meeting with the media on the opening day of training camp, he answered a question that lots of fans had been pondering in the weeks leading up to it – will William Nylander play centre?

Yesterday at the opening of training camp we got confirmation of the plan to try out William Nylander at centre with "Max" on his wing. To be clear, this means Max Domi.

Nylander began Maple Leafs training camp last season at center, but the experiment was cut short after just two games.

With a new coach, the opportunity to bring old ideas back in hopes that things can work out differently this time makes sense in most cases that is. The idea of William Nylander at centre is one of those ideas that seems like it is better off permanently mothballed.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will kick off their training camp this week, and changes already seem to be on the horizon.

Training camp hasn’t started yet and new Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is already shaking things up. Berube met with the media Tuesday and said William Nylander will start at centre. Nylander was drafted as a centre when the Maple Leafs selected him eighth overall in 2014 but has primarily played on the wing over his nine seasons with the team.
