Jenkins Middle School is closer to having repairs done. Wednesday, D11 approved spending $750,000 on design work for the necessary repairs that were identified by the fire inspector last month.

According to D11, the funding will allow contractors to immediately begin work related to reviewing the school’s structural report, conducting site visits and drafting a design plan to address any issues found.

The preliminary structural analysis and recommendations for repairing Jenkins Middle School were released Monday. The engineering firm Jensen Hughes was hired by Colorado Springs D-11 after the Colorado Springs Fire Department deemed the school unsafe and in need of repairs in December.
