U.S. stocks got off to a rocky start to 2025 on Thursday as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite declined for a fifth straight day. For both, it was the longest losing streak since April, according to Dow Jones Market Data.

US stocks jumped on Friday, ending a five-day losing streak for the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq 100. Risk-on stocks in the consumer discretionary and technology sectors led the market higher.

Fresh off of its worst losing streak in 50 years, the Dow Jones Industrial Average stormed forward Friday following a better-than-expected inflation report.
