Devon and Cornwall Police is urging drivers not to travel unless absolutely essential. In a post on X, the force said officers were responding to several collisions due to heavy snow and icy conditions. The advice comes after a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across parts of Devon and Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall is braced for snowfall and sleet this evening (Monday, January 6). The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice from 5pm until 10am tomorrow morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across parts of Devon and Cornwall. The first warning for snow and ice begins at 17:00 GMT and ends at 10:00 GMT on Tuesday. A second warning for snow across both counties then takes effect from 09:00 on Wednesday to 23:59 the same day.

Scotland is continuing to be hit by freezing weather, with rain, sleet and snow expected to fall across large parts of the country. Temperatures at Loch Glascarnoch in the Highlands fell to -11C on Saturday night after forecasters extended a yellow warning from 09:00 on Sunday until 12:00 on Monday.
