Weather warnings for snow and wind in Northern Ireland have been issued by the Met Office. The yellow alert for snow comes into force on New Year's Day, Wednesday January 1, at 7am and will remain in force until 23.59pm. It covers the whole of NI.

The previous warning for snow for all of Northern Ireland has now been cancelled. Persistent snow now not expected to affect Northern Ireland on Wednesday. Snow showers are still likely in the north of Northern Ireland later on Wednesday, mainly on high ground

The Met Office has forecast for plenty of snow, wind and rain to impact parts of the UK across the New Year period

VERY strong winds and heavy rainfall are expected to lead to some disruption in South Wales this week, including on New Year's Day. A spokesperson for the Met Office said that the weather will be "unsettled and very windy mid-week with heavy rain at times and perhaps some snow in places".
