Sorry I am just now seeing this. My answer may be too late. It has been a while since I logged in to TA. We didn't eat any meals in homes. We stayed at the Berlin Grande Hotel. They have large rooms at pretty reasonable rates, so you could sleep 2 or even 4 to a room without spending a lot. Sorry I don't have any information on meals in a home. I hope you have (or had) a great visit. The country side there is beautiful.

1.5 hours should do it. Start with 2 Amish Homes Then the barn Then the school house Finish with the buggy ride. Be sure to ask many questions at all locations. The guides are steeped in personal information, as they are Amish and Mennonite. House has an Amish girl baking cookies. They run 50 cents, I believe. Good time! Store has flush toilets and all sorts of Amish/Mennonite gifts, while you wait for guide to be released to you to start the tour. Enjoy!

When we went, there was no reservation needed. Just drive there and pay admission in gift shop. Not sure about October schedule.
