During production of Toy Story in 1995, Pixar began referring to itself as Pixar Animation Studios, and dropped the square logo in favor of a wordmark set in the Charlemagne Bold typeface. This logo was created by current Pixar CCO Pete Docter.

When Pixar was established as an animation studio in 1994, the now-iconic animated intro with the company's mascot Luxo Jr., was introduced. When the logo fades to black, Luxo Jr. would still have it's light on before turning it off.
